Hugs from Keller

Keller has missed Dave with him being gone (we both have). Here's Dave comforting her that he'll be home again. Actually, he was proving he still loved her even though he had to clean out her painful gooky ear.

Keller pup was back at the vet last week because we thought she had an ear infection. Whenever I rubbed her right ear (she always has problems with that ear), there was a sloshing liquid sound. And she was increasingly shaking her head and scratching her ear. So I called, and they suggested bringing her in.

Sorry, pups. Just more of that nasty yeast stuff building up in her ear again. It's the gross brown/black gook that smells nasty, and we try to do a good job of keeping her ears cleaned, but it just can't be fully beat, I suppose. So we got some more goop for her ears and off we went. Keller loves and hates the vet at the same time. Correction: she enjoys seeing everyone, but doesn't like having her ears poked at and cried quite a bit (well, I'm sure it hurt, too!).

She has had fun lately with Santi, Ann & Ella, swimming, chasing birds, and sleeping in bed with me, keeping me company. She's just as confused as me with the schedule I've been working as of late.

Keller's mad canoeing skills

This is merely ironic since my last pictures in my last post were of canoeing. But I found this tonight searching for pictures to submit for the Minnesota 2012 WeatherGuide calendar. This is where Keller got her canoe start...and her mad canoeing skills...when she was barely three months old at Chester Park. What a baby!

Canoe on, yo!

Have I ever mentioned that Keller has mad canoeing skills? Well, she likes to scoot from side to side, to get the best view. I think she feels like she's going to miss something, otherwise. So all of her 48 pounds forces us to balance the boat pretty quickly, lest we risk tipping. But she is a great companion in the canoe, and also likes her swims. 'Cause who doesn't?

Here are two from our canoe trip on Zumbro Lake last Sunday, which, we'll never canoe on probably ever again (confounded ignorant speed boats and their ignorant wave makers!)

Stuff to laugh at

Keller just makes me laugh. Here she is with Santi, her partner in crime, as the "Welcoming" and "Goodbyeing" committee, when I dropped her off at Seth and Sarah's on Thursday.
The latter picture is of her hogging the bed at 5:30 in the morning. Observe the wonky sleeping position...whatever floats your boat, Keller. We didn't want her on the bed since we got our new, nice wedding-gift bedding, but I get lonely when Dave is gone. Actually, she usually goes to bed on her own bed, and 6/10 times I happen to find her stretched out next to me in the middle of the night. Then when I get up to use the restroom, I come back and find her parked right on my pillow. At least she keeps it warm....
Our plan for Sunday is to do some AM cooking in the kitchen. I have plucked 3 dozen cherry tomatoes, a few plum tomatoes, some early girl tomatoes, about 5 eggplants, various peppers, and my herb garden has exploded (I have 3 big herb gardens, so this is saying that I should go into business). Anyway, I have a yummy veggie lasagna planned. Keller helped me make curried tofu and vegan tacos last week. What a good sous-chef!

Here's the mail it never fails...it makes me want to wag my tail...

We got our wedding pictures today from Gina. I am blown away by them. So is Keller. Well, she would be. She's too busy wrestling with Santi right now. Hey, guys!!!! It's midnight!!!

Anyway...link to all 600 of them to come....

Berry pickers

Here's Keller the berry-picking dog. See the smudge of blackcaps across her chin? Just kidding. Oh, that was actually the poop she rolled in yesterday. Some of the most horrific smells in the world.

We are going to have Santi over tonight for the weekend. Looking forward to it, and Keller would be too, if she understood.

Dog Park Dog

After Keller and Dave rooted me on at the ice cream eating contest tonight, and after I shoved my face full of calorie & sugar-stuffed ice cream, Dave thought it was Keller, not me, that needed to rid herself of energy. So they went to to the dog park and it was a beautiful night out. Here's our happy puppy. Happy because she chewed up my Chacos today.
